Activated carbon for water treatment has been widely used across many industries and has become a reliable solution for improving water quality and purifying air. It is already commonly applied in large factories.
Organic waste gas (VOC) control refers to using different technical measures to reduce petroleum loss, lower organic solvent consumption, or purify exhaust gas to eliminate pollution from organic emissions. To prevent pollution, in addition to reducing petroleum loss and solvent usage at the source, exhaust-gas purification is currently one of the most practical control approaches. Common methods include adsorption, absorption, catalytic incineration, and thermal incineration.
Organic waste gas is sent directly into a condenser. Through condensation and subsequent separation, valuable organic compounds can be recovered. This method is suitable for high-concentration, low-temperature, and low air-volume conditions. It requires additional refrigeration equipment and is mainly used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. It is less common in printing plants.
Physical absorption is commonly used. Waste gas is introduced into an absorption liquid for purification. After the absorption liquid becomes saturated, it can be regenerated through heating, desorption (stripping), and condensation for recovery. This method is suitable for large air volume, low temperature, and low concentration waste gas. However, it requires heating and regeneration equipment, which is typically large and involves relatively high investment cost.
Activated carbon adsorbs organic waste gas. When adsorption becomes saturated, the activated carbon can be regenerated by desorption. The desorbed gas can then be treated by catalytic incineration and converted into harmless substances. After regeneration, the activated carbon can be reused. Activated carbon can also quickly capture toxic gases in the air, helping reduce human exposure.
